| Before visiting Azalea Bridal & Formal (ABF), please take a moment to read this Interview to find out if we are the right place for you. "How long have you been doing what you do and how did you become a bridal shop?" My daughter and I opened ABF just over five years ago. We really wanted to give all Brides the opportunity to find a beautiful wedding gown made of high quality materials, that are actually available in their size, at a reasonable price. We realized that finding wedding gowns under a thousand dollars was not that easy. Additionally, there are very few shops that actually carry plus size dresses. ABF has wedding gowns in stock in sizes 2-32 so that more brides can find a beautiful wedding gown they want to wear. "We love your bridal shop and wedding gowns, everything sounds fantastic . . . so can you tell us what sets you apart from other bridal shops? What makes you special?" At ABF, we are so laid back. If you are tired of pushy bridal shops, then you will love our very relaxed atmosphere. You do not even need an appointment. We really want you to have a stress free experience and to not be intimidated by "bridal consultants." Give us a chance to show you how we are different. "This all sounds wonderful but it also sounds expensive. Are we going to be able to afford this?" Our main focus is helping you find a wedding gown that works for you - not us. We want you to leave ABF happy with the wedding gown you have purchased and excited about your future husband seeing you in it. Our more formal wedding gowns (with trains) range between $699 and $1100. We also carry destination wedding dresses (less formal, as for a beach wedding, with little or no train) that are generally in the $200-$300s range. The focus here is your happiness, the quality of the materials used to construct your gown, and the overall appearance of your ensemble. "A Big Box Bridal Warehouse may sell a similar dress for $299. Why is yours $749? Please be aware that this is not really the same gown. The $299 dress may be a store sample with visible wear and tear, make-up splotches, and unidentified perfumes and deodorants. It may not be a brand new gown ordered new for you from the official designer. Another big difference is the internal construction. Azalea buys higher quality gowns that have construction elements on the inside of the gown to hold you in, push you up, and keep the gown from falling off of you. Cheaper dresses usually only have a layer or two of thin satin (or often polyester) with no built in construction, which is why the Big Box store immediately hands you a corset (which they expect you to purchase) and very often a crinoline (slip). At ABF, the bra is built into the dress; you will feel the difference in construction, and in most cases, you won't need to purchase an additional bra or crinoline. The materials are also visibly different. The $299 dress is not made of luxurious duchess satin or luxe taffeta. The big box version may have plastic beads and not swavorski beads and crystals. The cheaper dress does not have the careful details that make the Bride radiant on her wedding day. There really is no comparison. "Why shouldn’t I buy a gown off the internet? I see phenomenal gowns for very cheap prices." Scam artists are all over! And in this economy, they are even more aggressive!! If you look on eBay, for example, you can find many gorgeous dresses for sale for $168. In fact, these manufacturers even use the official designer photographs that our designers allow us to use to scam you into thinking you are getting the same dress. Just realize – you are not getting the same dress. You are getting a knock-off that has usually been copied from the picture and put together in a factory in China. You are again getting plastic beads, polyester fabric, no built in corset, and you have absolutely NO recourse if the dress is not what you thought you ordered. In fact, sometimes your gown doesn't arrive at all; sometimes they arrive at the last minute. And when you’re concerned about your dress not arriving, you’re going to be looking for another dress, but: your wedding gown budget has already been spent, and just in case it does arrive, you don’t want to be struck with two gowns. Also, Wedding Gown sizes often run very small. You need to try it on and purchase it from a reputable place. You don’t see what you get online, and if there is a problem, there is no one to help you. "Real" wedding gown manufacturers do not permit their gowns to be sold online. You must buy from an official retailer to guarantee that you're getting the dress you paid for. On the most important day of your life, do you really want to chance it? "Who do you work best with?" We work best with Brides excited about the wedding gown experience. Brides that are open to trying on a variety of styles to find out what looks best on them are our favorite. We love Brides who are happy and have time to focus on the process. We also love Brides who are capable of making their own decisions. We want you to speak up and say what you like and what you don't. "Who will not benefit from our help?" Brides who won't try on anything are wasting everyone's time, including theirs. If you are only interested in trying on the one gown you saw in a bridal magazine, you need to find out who has it, and go there. Brides that come in on their cell phones, and can’t give us their attention are welcome to go elsewhere. If you want my help, at least be courteous enough to get off your phone so I can help you. My time is valuable too, and if you stay on that cell phone, I will go help someone else. When you bring an entourage with you, your decisions often get overlooked. Mom wants you in this gown. Grandma likes that one. Your maid of honor thinks you should be sexy. It really can be overwhelming. When you first start with this process, you should either come alone or bring one person. You can show everyone else later. "Can I bring my children with me?" Bringing your children along is not a good idea. Bridal Shops are just not child friendly stores. You can’t find a wedding gown in ten minutes and children become quickly bored. Screaming, running children cause our other customers to leave. We don’t want your children to get hurt, and we have to protect our merchandise as it is expensive to replace. Help us keep your children safe by making other arrangements for them or come when they are in school. You will have a better experience that way too. "How many gowns can I try on?" We don’t have a specific number of gowns or a limit. You need to try on different styles of gowns to get a feeling for what looks best for you. For example, you may LOVE the sweetheart style wedding gowns but they may not work with your chest size. It’s good to try on various styles early so that you will know right away to move on and try on other necklines, spaghetti straps, and other styles to find the gown that actually looks the best on you. "I cannot pay for my gown all at once. Do you have a payment plan?" We have a no interest, no fee Layaway Plan. This is not a credit card like many other shops have you apply for. This is a "real" Layaway Plan. To order a wedding gown, we require that you pay half of the gown's cost as a down payment before we order it. Then, if you wish, you can make monthly installments on your wedding gown until it comes in, or you can pay the balance when you pick it up. (That's normally around 12 weeks.) If you are buying an in-stock gown off the rack, you have up to 60 days for lay-away. You will be asked to sign a Lay-Away Agreement. If you keep shopping for gowns and change your mind later, your money WILL NOT be refunded. This is a special order placed specifically FOR YOU, so, once you find the gown you decide to purchase, stop looking! We also offer Lay-Away Plans on all of our gowns including those for Mothers, Bridesmaids, Proms, and Pageants. "This sounds like everything I've been looking for. Now what does it take to start the process? Call or email us and we will answer all of your questions. We would love to meet with you personally to hear about your needs and so you can see if we are people you want to do business with. We are conveniently located on Highway 78 at Scenic Highway 124 in Snellville, Georgia. Right next to Provino's Italian Restaurant in the Snellville Plaza shopping center. Appointments are not needed, but since we close at 6:00 p.m., we ask that you arrive no later than 4:30 p.m. to try on gowns. This allows you time to select and try on several gowns before we close.
